BIO
My name is Laelle, and I’m a graduate student in the Neuroscience & Behavior program. I’m originally from Colorado, where I spent much of my early life exploring the outdoors and playing competitive soccer. I completed my undergraduate degree at Saint Louis University, earning a Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience & Psychology with a strong focus on research. During my time there, I became deeply involved in the study of cognitive and affective neuroscience, particularly the literature on fMRI and how memory and emotion intersect in the brain.
Prior to starting graduate school, I worked as a Neuromodulation Technician in a local psychiatry clinic, where I administered Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) for clinical purposes and engaged in novel research using TMS for post-stroke recovery and Parkinsons. In addition, I served as a Technician & Coordinator in the Luking Lab, where I worked with EEG to study the impact that female sex hormones have on individual social rejection sensitivity and the development of psychopathology. I was also President of SLU's club soccer team and enjoyed being involved in advocacy groups to help individuals with Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) access specialized, evidence-based treatment. My specific research interests include lifespan episodic memory, emotion regulation, and clinical neuroscience applications—especially in populations with anxiety or mood disorders.
Outside of lab work, I love watching sports, listening to podcasts, exercising, trying new foods, & playing fetch with my dog, Ripley.
